19 Weeks - Its a Girl!

Much to our surprise, we are having a girl! With 10 nephews and only 1 niece, needless to say I was completely convinced I was having a boy and even had a boy name picked out (James). When our tech said "You're having a little girl"...I was completely shocked. I mean, completely. I sort of just laid there staring at the screen thinking "are you sure?" We are VERY excited of course!!!

Here are some pictures! Youtube video will come soon.

Ready for his/her closeup!

Matt and I are very excited about the new addition that will be joining the family, and no...it is not another puppy. I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant and due March 2, 2010. I hope to find out in a few weeks the gender. So far pregnancy has been full of nausea and food aversion. I also miss going to the gym, but find that I feel too sickly most of the time to do anything but work and watch TV. Hopefully when it cools down I can get outside and get in some exercise!

Here is the youtube to the Ultrasound. Its amazing what you can already see!

Maui!

Here are some pictures from our trip to Maui. We had to make a quick change from Mexico to Hawaii 5 days before our trip, due to the now media overblown Swineflu! But it did get us to try out Hawaii and it was AMAZING!!!!

The past few months...

Sorry the postings have been sparse, its been a busy Q1! I ran a 1/2 marathon on January 18th and my best friend since Kindergarten, Megan, came to visit and cheer me on! We also bought a new scanner and I spent about 6 hours scanning old pictures which was so much fun. Also my mom and sister came to visit, which you can see pictures of here. Over the past 2 1/2 weeks I've been at the airport TEN times...2 trips to CA, Matt took 1 and I had to pick up/drop off Matt, Megan, my mom and Diana. Whew!

Mile 13.1 - Thanks Megan for taking this picture - I felt awful!

Megan brought a sack full of supplies - water, food and flip flops!

At this point...the standing/walking was done. Time for a breakfast burrito!

It was soooo nice out when my mom and sister came to visit.

Tucson Marathon and Work Party Fun

Last weekend I found myself in San Francisco during the wee hours of the night and Matt ran 26.2 miles in 3 hours and 23 minutes! While in San Fran for the party, I realized that I am way too old to stay out that late! Matt could not join me since he was resting before his Marathon. We stayed at this great place in Tucson and Matt had perfect weather for his run. Unfortunately, when I thought I was taking video of him finishing I didn't push the right button.

We also decided to put up the Christmas tree. Each year we buy a special ornament for each other. Its always fun to get them out of their boxes and put them on the tree. The dogs are kind of scared of the tree but they've acclimated themselves now. Roxy did eye the stockings hanging from the shelf, so we had to put those up. She can be a bad basset hound.

Here are, as always, some pictures from the past few weeks.

Work Outings

Over the past few weeks we've had a lot of adventures at work. My counterparts from California were in town for some team building activities, and Matt had to dish out ice cream! Here are some pictures from the events.

The first event was golfing. My coworker Han & I didn't feel like golfing, so we just tooled around in the cart. Unfortunately, the cart didn't have enough juice to get up this incline. We were stuck!

Here I am with one foot on the gas trying to push it up the hill...it wasn't working.

Still trying to push...still wasn't working.

The boys heard us screaming for help, and came to our rescue.

Here Vinnie made a great shot, right into a prickle-bush.

The next event was a Suns game. We got to watch it from one of the boxes, it was awesome...even though the Suns lost.

Han posing with me and my very bright Suns shirt.

And finally, Matt serving Ice Cream...we needed proof to send to his department.

Happy Halloween!

We had a great time last night handing out candy. We love seeing all the different costumes. The winner, hands down, was the cutest skunk we've ever seen.

Last weekend we did the "Halloween Bike Ride" in Old Town Scottsdale. We went as Peg and Al Bundy. How do you think we did?

I had a great visit with the family last weekend. I got to see Megan, Lindsey and the entire family!

It isn't a visit to Omaha without a trip to Runza (this is for you, Jeff)

Matt's 30th Birthday

On Sept 4th Matt turned 30...crazy! On his birthday we kept it low key and went to dinner and he opened his presents. He did not know it, but I had planned a surprise party for him the next night at our favorite Sushi place. The only problem was getting him to the restaurant without him suspecting anything. I told him that I had made reservations at a restaurant near there, and then I planned with our friend Vinnie that he would leave his watch in our car and he needed it for a date...and he would just happen to be at the sushi place eating. I know it sounds improbable, but Matt actually bought it. He was COMPLETELY shocked when we walked in to give Vinnie his watch, and saw a group of his friends sitting together at a table. It was a great night, even though I forgot to take any pictures. Here are some pictures of Matt opening his presents.
Here is the card the dogs got him:

Attack of the Mosquitoes

Yesterday Matt and I went for a 5 mile run together. About 1/2 way through I was feeling pretty sluggish, so Matt gave me the water bottle and ran ahead. I was content to walk the rest of the way home, until I looked down at my legs and saw about 10 mosquitoes latched on. I swatted at them and continued to walk. I felt nipping at the backs of my legs, and when I glanced back, to my horror, I saw all of the mosquitoes had taken residence once again. I swatted and figured if I ran, it'd be harder for them to land on me. This worked until I realized that there was actually an entire SWARM of mosquitoes following me. We've had a lot of rain the past week, and they are out roaming the trails and neighborhoods. It was horrible...I would keep running for about 5 minutes, stop to catch my breath, turn around and see the swarm was still chasing me. In my terror and panic I recalled being at camp riding a horse, and asking why they swung their tails and tried to hit me. The guide said they use their tails to swat away flies and mosquitoes. This gave me an idea....I grabbed the nearest plant and began swinging it behind me as I ran. When that did not deter them I then grabbed a stick from the ground and tried that. This only made them more angry and determined. You would have thought I was being chased by violent thugs. What must my neighbor have thought as I sprinted by him as he weeded...swinging a stick behind me and running as fast as I could? This was the least of my concerns as I came flying into the house, past the dogs and immediately into the shower. Unfortunately my legs are covered in bites and I'm now scared to go outside.

Latest News

Sorry its been awhile since the last post, and that the last post was just of the dogs. We've been quite busy these past few weeks! This past weekend we were in Tucson for Matt to finish his course and officially become a Running Coach. He really enjoyed the class, learned a lot, and passed the test scoring 95%! As I type this he is on the phone with his first client, a woman who wants to become a police officer and needs to run 1.5 miles in 15 minutes. Anyone who knows Matt knows how dedicated he is to running and I think this will be a great opportunity for him.

I've also been trying out a new type of Yoga. Its called Bikram Yoga and you practice for 90 minutes in a 105 degree room. Now I know it sounds crazy, but I love it! I don't think I've ever sweat so much in my life. The object of your first class is literally to just stay in the room.

Other than that - not too much new and exciting is going on. As usual I have some pictures of the dogs and of my latest hair color.

Here is Roxy thinking she is a lap dog, pretty typical. She also likes this chair and will force you out with her extreme fatness.

Here are Matt and I in Tucson. Notice no more black hair! That is a whole 'nother blog topic.
